17:30-19:00 Hospitals on FHIR: Meetup and Reception
The Hospitals on FHIR initiative is a community of practice that aims to raise awareness of HL7 FHIR among hospital leaders, and help them share experience and best practices in their adoption journey.
Henrique Martins and Giorgio Cangioli jointly launched the initiative in 2021, and since then the initiative has grown today has its own governance, co-chaired by Stefano Dalmani (IT) and Maria Salazar (PT).
As a community of practice it builds on the work of Mina Boubaki (MoH) and Catherine Chronaki (HL7 Europe) in the xeHealth project, where characteristics of Communities of Practice are conceptualized to advance the adoption of the European EHR Exchange Format, a key component of the European Health Data Space.
The Athens digital health week is a unique opportunity to connect with stakeholders in Greece, exchange views and best practices and initiate collaborations that may lead to new projects. In this meetup, Hospitals on FHIR leadership, HL7 Hellas, KETEXNH,IDIKA, the Ministry of Health, and the Hellenic Digital Health Cluster supporter of Smart Health, are invited to exchange views and discuss potential synergies and collaborations.

09:30-11:00, 11:30-12:10, UNICOM Day
Ensure that any medicine and what it contains can be accurately identified anywhere in the world. Improve patient safety and enable better healthcare for all
Organised by UNICOM Hosted by IDIKA & Pharma Innovation Forum UNICOM Day provides a summary of what the UNICOM project has learned about semantic and technical interoperability of IDMP, and encourages the participants to explore and test the potential of IDMP in different settings. The target audience is not restricted in any way - the discussions are designed to include the pharmacist’s view as well as a more technical view.
The first session of the event gives an overview of IDMP implementation on a national and crossborder level - showing the value of implementing IDMP as well as highlighting the challenges related to the forthcoming changes.
To facilitate planning and implementing IDMP-related changes, the second session focuses on testable specifications, test data, and testing platform. We will walk through the implementation enablers that were developed by UNICOM and IHE - from the specifications to the free, open source tooling and standards which allow everyone along their IDMP implementation journey. We will explore testing and prototyping, with these enablers - looking at sample data and setting up a simple testing environment.
The half-day ends with a workshop dedicated to substitution of medicinal products. This workshop allows the audience with different backgrounds to discuss together how to create a standard specification for finding equivalent and substitute products. The workshop starts with a demo of a UNICOM patient facing app that leverages substitution rules created in UNICOM. The following discussion is encouraged to put those rules to the test, and explore the potential of IDMP further.

  • 09:30-11:00 UNICOM Day | Session 1: IDMP Implementation on a National and Crossborder Level
  • 11:30-12:10 UNICOM Day | Session 2: Planning and Implementing IDMP-related Changes
  • 12:10-13:00 UNICOM Day | IDMP Medication Substitution Workshop
